I love Maundy Thursday. I love the chance to eat together, to express the care and love we have for one another through the oddity of the washing of feet. I am mourning all of those things today. But I have also seen signs of God’s great love in my church family and those are […]
Jesus is not usually a huge fan of crowds–or so Scripture makes it seem. He hangs out with the scholars in the temple rather than journey home, he often retreats from the crowds to pray or plans travel to evade a gathering crowds–until today. Today Jesus heads straight for crowded Jerusalem. The readings can be […]
“We wish to see Jesus” immediately caught my imagination. Because yes, I do…. And because Jesus gives this theologically rich answer to a simple question. The lessons can be found by clicking here.
I love the stories of God making a covenant with people. Because why would God? Except for love. This covenant with Noah is the first and it comes with a this repeating sign of the covenant: a rainbow. I worked most closely with Genesis 9.8-17

A question I often hear is why does it matter that we pray or worship? It doesn’t change who God is. I think our lessons today provide part of the answer to that: God is curious about us. I worked with Deuteronomy 18.15-20 and Mark 1.21-28 (link).
We only get this short passage from the book of Jonah, which asks, among other things, what the faithful response to a nonsensical world is. Our reading was from the first part of Jonah 3, but I worked with the whole book.
I love Baptism. I love the Baptismal Covenant. I have also come to love this little group of believers Paul encounters in our Acts reading. I think they have some wisdom for us in this long time without sacraments. I worked most closely with Acts 19. 1-7.
