I didn’t love the Magnificat, Mary’s Song, until seminary. But ever since then I’ve only fallen further and further in love with the depth of Mary’s vision and hope. Aside from being deeply revolutionary and hopeful, it’s also deeply faithful. And, I think, offers us a faithful perspective to consider as we begin to rebuild […]
I rarely preach from the psalms, but the hope, longing, and faith in Psalm 126 were so grounding for me this week. I also had in my mind a note about the joys I have found with St Paul’s in the midst of this long hard year. Because amid all of the frustrations and complications […]
This passage is, for me, so deeply tied to Advent. This year, Isaiah is deepening as I read it in the middle of a pandemic. I worked most closely with Isaiah 40.1-11.
I love Advent. It is a season that invites us to hope that God is not only still active in our world but will again join us in our world when Jesus returns. The plea in Isaiah for God to act in a world that is unjust sits so poignantly in the middle of the […]
I love Joseph. We get such a tiny tantalizing snippet of his story. Outside of the figurines in nativity sets, we can completely ignore him. But today I got to spend some time with him. I worked most closely with Matthew 1.18-25 (link). Listen:

St Paul writes, “May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus.” I have a clear memory of the first time I heard harmony and realized it wasn’t every voice doing the same thing. The lessons can be found by clicking here (link). […]
Jesus is quite clear that we need to be ready, and that it is our work to be ready. What kind of ready is Jesus asking for? I worked most closely with Matt 24.36-44. The lessons can be found here (link). Listen:
Morsels & Stories: We practiced and talked about waiting. Sermons: I’m pretty sure John the Baptist was the only person waiting in awe and wonder for Jesus last time. Which disturbs me because John was…unique. The lessons can be found by clicking here (link). I worked most closely with the collect and Luke 3:7-18. Listen:
Morsels & Stories: A few weeks ago we talked about when the offertory was blessed. When do the blessings end? Sermon: What Christmas Jammies have to do with the reading from Baruch? The lessons can be found by clicking here (link). I worked most closely with Baruch 5:1-9. Listen:
