Beloved Friends, Maundy Thursday 2020

Maundy Thursday 2020

This is a weird Maundy Thursday.  In my part of the world we aren’t worshipping in our buildings (we are worshipping together and in person, just online).  One of the effects of this is that we are fasting from the Eucharist.  One of the other effects is that we are limiting the spread and #flattenthecurve of COVID19 on behalf of all of us.  I have sent out at home worship options and we will gather for a Maundy Evening Prayer, so this sermon was recorded as I preached to one of my cats imagining both what we might have done if we could worship in our building and what people might have done to mark their Maundy Thursday.

I worked with 1 Cor 11.23-26 and John 13.1-17, 31b-35 (Although John  15.15 jumped into my sermon halfway through *shrug*).
